Carlos Kleiber RIP

Many of us would have loved to see him at the head of the BPO or at least regularly in Vienna, his health problems and somewhat moody temper apparently made this impossible.

His operas and Beethoven Symphonies will always be remembered for their sheer energy and architecture.

BTW, any recommendations are welcome !

My DG Arkiv of his 5th and 7th will be on tonight. Great conductor - v sad.

Never got round to seeing him live, but who did?

Recommendations are pretty thin on the ground, so not a lot to add to the list above - I like his Brahms 4/VPO recording.
