New Porcupine Tree Al*** - The Incident

Posted by: DenisA on 13 June 2009

Porcupine Tree are happy to announce the forthcoming release of their tenth studio album "The Incident". The record is set to be released via Roadrunner Records worldwide on 21st September, as a double CD.

The centre-piece is the title track, which takes up the whole of the first disc. The 55-minute work is described as “a slightly surreal song cycle about beginnings and endings and the sense that ‘after this, things will never be the same again’.”

The self-produced album is completed by four standalone compositions that developed out of band writing sessions last December - Flicker, Bonnie The Cat, Black Dahlia, and Remember Me Lover feature on a separate EP length disc to stress their independence from the song cycle.

Video footage of the band in the studio working on The Incident, as well as audio previews, will be available online soon. The band will tour extensively to promote the album from mid September onwards.

Agree about the vinyl timing problem, so it looks like a tripple LP to me Big Grin

Hopefully the crowd will appreciate bobs soundscapes. I'm sure Mark and yourself will enjoy him. He's no stand up comedian though Big Grin. What would be amazing of course, is if he joined the band for a number or two Cool

Stu,

Enjoy, and as always multiple listens required. I can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you might hear some familiar Animal sounds Winker

Gary,

The new album idea came from an accident Steve witnessed Roll Eyes He does think TI is on a par with IA though Cool

BTW, are you going to Hammersmith in Oct?

Roadrunner promotion detals released today. No talk of Vinyl yet, which may come from tonefloat anyway.

Steve talks about Time Flies here

Also...

Porcupine Tree Meantime track released (flac download)

Deemed too cheerful by half to take its place on the otherwise dark In Absentia album, this track was later pitched (unsuccessfully) to film production companies. Written by SW, and recorded at Avatar Studios, New York during the IA album sessions.

Buy now.

Thanks Denis - quite expensive at £60 so think I am going to miss out on this special edition and just buy the regular CD and vinyl releases. I always find these coffee table releases a little difficult to take out in the car with me, so I always end up buying a regular version as well and then don't touch the special edition.
