Lontano, you mentioned J***....

Hi Lontano.

I hope you don't mind but on another post you mentioned European Progressive Jazz?

I was once, as a student, introduced to Jazz by several well meaning apparently knowledgable good friends. Whether or not it was the appalling replay machinery at the time, or their choices, i just couldn't get into it, yet they swore by the stuff.

That was, alas, a while ago, therefore i was hoping you could recommend perhaps three modern albums that might be accessible to a novice?

Many thanks if so, Paul.

Paul

take a look at the tord gustavsen, stanko, est thread. Some good stuff there.

But to kick you off try

E.S.T Seven Days of Falling
Tomasz Stanko Soul of Things
Tord Gustavsen The Ground

I am at a Marillion concert now but will check back in later

cheers

As a relative Jazz newbie I would second that Smile

Hi Lontano. Thank you for taking the time.

I've listened to a little of Stanko and Gustavsen on the magic web and still the appeal puzzles me, however as it is entirely different to what i'm used to i intend to get some anyway and try hard to understand. As you say, should it click then that gives me a vast new field to enjoy.

By the way, who/what is est? I got all sorts of web oddities as i typed it in but non was Jazz?

Regards, Paul.

May I recommend typing
quote:
label:ecm
into the Spotify search engine?

It has introduced me to some wonderful new music...that and some outstanding music lovers on this very forum...
