Dave Gilmore Live at Gdansk

Anyone heard it - is it worth a punt?

I have it and it is good but I would say that because I am a fan of Gilmour.
To be honest it is a bit samey if you already have the last two DVD's. But I want it still the same. 5 different versions out there dependent on your needs.

Floyd/Gilmour evening (including 'Live from Gdansk') on Beeb 4 TV this coming Friday.
DG is also talking about Rick Wright and performing on the extended Jools Holland Show on Beeb 2 the same evening.
John.

How many times can you listen to the same thing? I think if I hear another live Comfortably Numb, I'll go permanently Uncomfortably Numb.

Isn't it David these days - no deviation or diminutive allowed?

I heard off a colleague that Wright was to appear on stage with Gilmore but couldn't.
And we all know why.
V. sad, but thanks for the heads up with it being on tonight on BBC3.

Been listening to the Box-set LPs tonight and one things for sure - great guitarist that DG is, he's no match for the raw emotion of Roger Waters on vocals.

Frank did you get it from the BBC? If yes keep an eye out they often repeat shows. I recorded the show and the behind the scenes show.
I'll see if I kept them.

Love Floyd but must admit to having got bored halfway into the first number during the BBC show.

You did well to last that long - maybe I'm just getting older, but it sounded a bit AOR to me.

I went to the Earls Court show when the Division Bell came out and it was great, but I just don't think things have moved on since. I watched the Gdansk concert, but I was pretty soon distracted by something else and although it played through, I wasn't watching it. It was just the same as any Pink Floyd show for the past 20 years and frankly I'm so bored with it.
Listen to Meddle or anything prior to WYWH and they were just 4 guys producing great music that was still rock. I think they've become some corporate monster and have lost the plot entirely. It's like having Black Sabbath backed by the London Philharmonic - it's ridiculous.
I love Pink Floyd. This isn't them.

Indeed it's David Gilmour.

...My gripe is that (as far as I know)it isn't going to be shown in HD and as a result it doesn't have a Dolby Digital soundtrack ....Jools Holland's Later is being shown with both so why didn't the BBC show such an obvious HD/DD friendly performance in both formats? Pah!

I've had the vinyl boxset for a couple of weeks and think it's great. The 5th Lp is a collection of live sessions which sound......... great.
I've had wonderful service from Caimanzone_UK, Caiman_bargain or Caiman_USA this year. In fact most of my orders have come from them via Amazon.

I bought the double CD more as a 'completist' but I'm surprised how good it is.
The range of songs hang well together and the sound is fantastic on the CDS2. Prefer it to 'Pulse'.

im not too keen on his lastest material either, it isnt as interesting as floyds stuff, however there are some fantastic versions of floyd songs on there. the best example is high hopes on disc 2, his slide guitar solo at the end is superb!
