Frequency of Forum checking

Posted by: Not For Me on 16 March 2005

For me it used to be most days, now I find not much has changed, so twice a week seems enough?

Is it just me?

Winker The second sentence could be a good thread starter in itself. Then you would either check more often or not check at all. Winker

Seriously though, it has slowed down a lot in my perception. I don't find the Cell as interesting a place as I once did. However, I don't miss the sulphuric sarcasm of old.

Being new to the forum I tend to check every day more or less to find out what's going on.

My post count is far lower than others who are of the same vintage - I guess I have less to say. Or should I say things to say less often?

I did see the tail end of the vitriol that used to flow, and I am not sorry that that element of the forum has changed.

I tend to check everyday after I do my e-mails.
However on a daily basis it is evident that unless there is something really juicy that attracts a lot of comment there is not enough to keep me interested for long.
I notice that in another forum guests are allowed to post.
Try before you buy, so to speak, and maybe we gain some new and worthwhile future members.

Well it's a self-fullfilling prophesy isn't it?

We check the forum less often, so we post less often, so not much changes, so we check-in even less etc etc.

The only people who can change that are ourselves ! We need a few blatant crowd pleaser posts !

I still look in frequently.

Well,
I still check in as often as I used to,that is,as far as I can remember I do,But yes things have changed and I have stated my opinion several times[ some might think to many times] on other Threads.Do I miss the cut and thrust of before, yes to be absolutly truthful, the vitriol and sarcasm, well, as one who has,had ,at least a fair share, again some might say more than his fair share of vitriol and sarcasm aim at him.I have to say that as far as I'm concerned, the help and advice given, on a unbeliveable range of subjects, also the Concern, care and compasion shown. Not just during humanitarian crises but also during more intimate and personal crises by the majority of posters,"from before" far out weighs by a many x factor the unpleasent comments by the few.If the price to pay for all of this was a little sh-t on my head it's a price I would gladly pay.Yes, at times things became heated but that was because generally people cared pasonatly about the subject, whatever it was, they were debating.
I'm told every time the subject of the Re Formulated Forum is raised , that this is just, a lul,a hiatus, a pause, a seasonal interlude and things will improve,I do sincerly hope so,but as Brad has pointed out, unfortunatly there does seem now, to be more concern with increasing personal scores, than contributing to the forum as a whole.
Sorry to end on such a pessimistic note.
Now where's that Bl--dy Mick Parry gone Smile

Once or twice in a month. The forum, not the "second sentence"!
