Bad mains days?

I ahve recently noticed on a couple of occasions during the last coupl of weeks that my sistem souned S#~t.
The sound was distorted, like a cheap hifi playing too loud, almost like the drivers were rattling in the enclosures.
On other days it has sounded fine.
Nothing is physicaly amis.
Could this be an electronics proplem or can bad mains be this bad, (rendering the sistem unlistenable)?
