Rugby tribute - Karl Mullen, RIP
Posted by: JWM on 27 April 2009
Dr Karl Mullen, who captained Ireland for their first Grand Slam in 1948, and Captained the Lions, has died aged 82.
As this was just a month after watching Ireland achieve their second Grand Slam, after a gap of 61 years, I'm sure he died happy!
(In the amateur era of Rugby Union, have you noticed just how many great players of this 'dangerous sport' are/were doctors?! JPR and Jonathan Webb spring to mind without having to scratch the head too much...)
