I've worked out how long ONE hair takes to go grey!!!

Hi all,
Now that I've figured out how to post pictures to the forum, I've managed to work out how long it takes one hair to turn grey. I will post my picture and calculation at the end of this post!! To put it bluntly, my partner was doing her usual of plucking white hairs from her head, and she noticed something....
...the the hair doesn't just suddenly go white, it fades lighter and lighter until it does. Now this makes sense to me, but what I found of even more interest is that I could stick the hair on a piece of paper, scan it and then work out approximately how long in time it takes for a hair to go white.
Now you are all probably thinking that I am SO sad as a person!!! Ok, I am, and if my partner knew I'd used her hair for scientific research she would go BALLISTIC, but this was a source of information I'd never had access to in the past!!
From a bit of internet research, I found that hair grows at about 6" a year or 15.24cm. As you can see in the picture below, I've marked off the period of time the hair went grey. I've also included cm measurements at the side, so as you can see on the picture I have calculated that it takes ONE hair to turn grey in:
68.48 days!!!
Kind regards,
Jon
PS Actually I have to apologise as I can't find a way of posting the picture!! It's a small picture and I've saved it on my hard drive, but I just cannot attach!!
PPS I know I have FAR TOO much time on my hands!
