"staticky" interconnect cables

Posted by: Markus on 22 April 2002

Over the years as various bits and pieces of equipment have come and gone in my system I've occasionally had to use bnc to rca interconnects in my system. I've got a dark green chord and one of those light baby-blue ones. I'm using this configuration to connect my cd 3.5 to my 1980's vintage Lux receiver. My problem is that each interconnect tends to sound staticky and ragged and intermittent. I have to spend a little time adjusting it and fussing with it and even when it sounds ok it never is totally free of the problem In other words, it can be making music just fine then all of a sudden sound staticky for a few seconds. Each cable has this problem and has had it since new. Any thoughts about why this is happening?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Markus

have you ever put an ohm meter on the cable, wiggled it to check for intermittent dis or at least a variation in resistance that would point to a cable or termination fault?

Thanks Rico for the advice. Maybe my dealer can do this.
