Tom Tom Audio gets the thumbs up
Posted by: Pearcy on 02 May 2003
Just thought I'd post some very positive feedback about James/Tom Tom Audio.
Tom Tom audio specialize in supplying mint, boxed s/h Naim equipment complete with a 12 month guarantee.
After coming to a mutually agreeable deal, James took the trouble to visit & help install the new system. I already had a CD5, so he supplied a Nait5/Flatcap2 & beech Credo's -all in mint condition, as described.
All I can say is that James is a very pleasant, honest chap who will not try & sell you a box/upgrade just for the sake of it. He is genuinely interested in helping supply you with a system that will allow you to enjoy the music.
Having been guilty of going too far down the box upgrade path with my old Linn system & becoming ultra analytical when listening to music I now have a system which enables me to just listen to the music. -I have now sold my old system (well, only a few bits left...), have the few grand difference in my pocket & have a system that I find more enjoyable -thanks James

James - is a true gent, unlike many scum-bag (give me your money) dealers...
If your in the market - Tom Tom should be your first port of call - the word sticks out though is honesty a word not associated with most dealers

Well, I did say... "Tom Tom audio specialize in supplying mint, boxed s/h Naim equipment complete with a 12 month guarantee."
So for customers looking to purchase 'mint 2nd hand' Naim, IMO I really can't see how anybody else could have provided better service to me -& yes I did visit my local official Naim dealer 1st!

I also feel that if Tom Tom is providing a service that some do not feel Naim's official dealers are offering, that's something one should take up with the dealers, not the customer.
I know you have to be seen to support your dealers, but my experience, like others, is that they vary a lot and that's just within my own, statistically very small, sample.
Andy.

I think Pauls concern is that Tom Tom proclaimed to sell new naim gear.
Now as naim Salisbury arn't supplying him one has to question where all the new gear comes from.
If its only second hand kit, again where is he obtaining it all from, I heard there was quite a list.

Richard, I understand the reason for your post, but if TomTom is providing as good a service as people here say he is then Naim should talk to him and think about how he could be brought into the 'family'.

Hello!
Before I get accussed of hijacking the forum again for my own purposes and this thread suddenly, mysteriously disappears, I've got to set the record straight on a couple of points.
Firstly I am not, repeat not a franchised naim dealer and it has never been my intention to pass myself off as one.
I cannot obtain equipment from the factory and the odd bit of new equipment I have sold I have bought at list price from naim dealers.
I fully take your point Paul about my ad and I have now changed it taking out the 'new equipment' as you will see in this month's Hi Fi Plus. The Hi Fi News ad is changing from next month.
I don't percieve myself in any shape or form as a competitor to your dealer network who obviously focus on selling your range of new equipment extremely well (I recommend Radlett Audio myself to customers in my area who are looking for new equipment!). What I am doing is supporting the large installed base of Naim customers and offering them the opportunity to upgrade within the previous range of naim equipment with peace of mind.
In my experience most high street dealers percieve trade-ins as a necessary evil and would much rather sell the new gear than second hand which is obviously much more profitable for naim as well.
My stock of equipment comes from people responding to the wanted section of my ad and offering me their cherished gear or people trading in thir current components when upgrading.
I'm trying to complement the existing dealer network and offer a different service whilst fully supporting naim's high brand values and if you look at these posts and many others on other forums from my customers I must be doing something right.
Paul, I've left a private post for you and would welcome the oportunity to meet and discuss this with you at your convenince. I can assure you that I'm doing a professional job which can only benefit naim audio.
Your faithfully,
James

Paul - i was referring to the s'h market, anyway certain Naim dealers in Essex/London are crooks anyway, so don't talk to me about the ability of your Naim dealers (before you ask i have already provided details sometime ago the Mark Tucker, on sub-standard dealers)...
Though there are some very good dealers - as well

Just give Tomtom the Naim franchise and have done with it!

Cheers,
Paul.

This is EXACTLY the case in my and friends 20 Years plus of buying Naim fom many dealers all over the country. Surely its in Naims interest to have a thriving 2nd hand market.

To Paul Darwin,
In Holland we only have a couple of "so called" Naim dealers and one after the other are doing a dull job ! They are only interrested in selling quantity- not quaulitygear.
They're in no way motivated to sell Naim. They seem to prefer ML,Krelll, jeff Rowland and even the chinese crap like Vincent.
maybe these companies give higher comission ?

Paul,
My message was in no way,and I repeat NO way intended to do Naim any harm.Naim is one of the few companies on earth wich do a good job.You must be proud of that.
And sure do I fancy opening my own shop.
Regards,
Rob.
