Proms tonight

Did anyone hear Beethovan's 5th on the proms tonight.The double bases at the end of the 3rd and begining of the 4th movements were amazing.
This was heavy rock music of the 19th century.
I think the neighbours enjoyed it as well.
Bruch's violin concerto on thursday.

I'm afraid I found it rather dull and lifeless and so tuned out somewhere in the second movement. I would suggest that I've simply been spoilt rotten with Beethoven lately, but I rather enjoyed the Solti 9th that was broadcast last night.
There's a certain bite, in particular, that those opening chords ought to have, but I didn't hear it.

Wow!
Just managed to catch most of the last work on tonights late night prom.
Didn't know what it was or that I was actually listening to a live concert at first (I just turned the radio and heard it). Sure beats listening to most records/cd's.
Very rythmic with really good kettle drums and brass. The music was;
Haydn Symphoy No. 82 in C major, 'The Bear' (26 mins)
Played by
Camerata Salzburg
Leonidas Kavakos director/violin

A friend gave me the program of the Proms, i wsn't aware of it being from CA. Amazing list of performers. Makes our winter program kinda light at times. I'm hearing now Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin.
give me the 5th anytime, I thought it rocked when I heard it at 14.
