Legendary SBL's. Last call
Posted by: Doug Graham on 17 February 2003
We have a small quantity of SBL's in Black and Walnut finishes available for the astonishingly low price of £1495.00 inc the passive xovers and VAT. These are NOT "B" stock rejects and are constructed with the same care as ALL of our products. So, if you've always hankered after a pair and the finish suits, then I'd suggest you contact your Naim dealer who will be only too happy to arrange the sale and installation.
It's a deal.

What's the deal? If your dealer is 1050 miles(two hour plane ride) away and it's your birthday coming up?!.......like really soon

Doug,
I'll take a pair in black. Please send them to Audio Republic in Leeds. No hurry, can't collect until 28th of Feb.
I'll install them myself but my wife says can the dealer come and do some housework instead ?
If you need further confirmation, my e-mail address is: allan.probin@btinternet.com
thanks,
Allan

I would love a pair of SBLs but the wife has banned black speakers - for the sake of domestic harmony what does walnut look like? If any kind soul is able to post a photo of a walnut speaker (preferably SBL) it would be much appreciated
Thanks

Thomas - thanks very much for your help - I really appreciate your support - not only did you send a picture of the speaker and grilles but also one without grilles - what a great help. Walnut certainly looks different to the average Maple/Cherry finish that seems the norm these days.
Best wishes

I think Thomas would agree that they are a particuarly fine example of the walnut finish, the ones I have seen don't normally have so many markings.
Cherry is better ;-)

Anyone with a Naim system and smallish room who is in the market for any sub 5K speakers would be insane to miss this chance.

Those aren't mine, BTW. I detest walnut. When I bought mine (new) I wanted cherry, but alas, SBLs were no longer available in that finish at the time, so I ended up with beech (horribly boring).
Every once in a while I read about maple SBLs -- do these fabled creatures really exist?

This is really frustrating! We've made our minds up to go to South Africa on holiday in September, maybe away for Chistmas/my birthday, change of car next year......then this!
I just can't afford it.

Is this offer only good for our UK friends?
Or can the States boys play too?

Doug,
good idea to start a last call! Thank you.
I am happy with my SBL's and can highly recommend them.
Would you please be so kind, to inform us before discontinuing the olive series?
Thanks in advance

Hi Doug,
Just seen your posting on the internet re the run-out pricing on SBL's.
I am interested in the Rosewood version but need to know wether these can be shipped abroad - Vietnam to be precise as there are no dealers here ..... hmmm, there maybe a business opportunity here .... there are a lot of wealthy audiophiles in Vietnam.
Can you let me know if:
1. This is possible.
2. Is there any saving on VAT or other UK duties?
An approximation of shipping costs.
Looking forward to your reply.
Best regards,

The few pairs of SBLs we had in Walnut are now all gone - sorry.
We still have pairs available in Black Ash finish but they're selling fast so, if you've been after a pair, get your skates on....!

Common Richie baby surely through the years of SBL manufacture you have a slightly odd set of piano black cases you could like let me have, I don't mind the odd scratch. I have the transducers just the cabinets will be fine!

Garyi Babyi,
sorry, no such luck, I'm afraid. Why not get your existing cabinets "Piano Blacked"? A decent car spray-shop should be able to oblige...

I heard a rumour that Piano Black did nothing to enhance the musicality of the SBL...
So walnut gone already!? Wow, at the end of the earth superior black is left standing. Always bet on black.

Hi Doug,
I responded to this email a couple of days ago but I don't think it has gone through??
I was asking wether it is possible to order the Rosewood model and have it shipped to Vung Tau City, Vietnam - if so, any idea of shipping/ins costs.
An alternative maybe that I could get someone to bring them over - Vung Tau City is a port and base for offshore oil exploration so there is often people moving over tfrom the UK.
Cheers,
John McMillan

I'm waiting for what I believe to be the last ever pair of Walnut SBL's
!....
As I've made the crazy decision of buying them without listening to them first, could anyone let me know the cabinet dimensions I need to make sure they fit in my living room.
