MatM - Delicate due out 02 02 2010

The new album from Martha and the Muffins should finally be available in February,
Was beginning to wonder if this elpee would come out. I know there have been legal and health issues, but got a mail today saying the long anticipated release will be with us early in the new year.
If you haven't got/heard just how good this band is then treat yourself - their 1981 This is the Ice Age is a classic - an album that would feature among my dessert island discs without question, but MatM's other records are very good too: Metro Music, Modern Lullaby, Danesparc and Mystery Walk.
I have high expectations for the new record. If you are interested in it then you may want to get it from the band if you can and they'll autograph the copy. I doubt it'll be available on vinyl, which is a shame, but a MatM CD is at least something to look forward too.
If all you know by MatM is Echo Beach, one of the finest singles ever IMHO, then rest assured that some of their album tracks are even better.
Of course there are more fashionable groups, but are there any better groups than MatM - yes the Beatles, Kinks, Barrett-era PF, ISB, Fairport, Purple/Rainbow, ELP, ELO (at their best), Planxty and HMHB, but that's about it and they'd give any of those a run for their money - fabulous group.
All this and the new Basia Bulat album to look forward too - looks like 2010 is going to be a good year.
