LP12/Lingo problem

I've recently bought a new Lingo, and yesterday I found that the red LED on the LP12 is permanently on, and bright. The green LED (for 45rpm) is the same. Clicking the switch spins the platter correctly, but the LED is always lit. I would much prefer to return just the Lingo to the dealer, than move the newly set up LP12. Have any of you encountered this problem, and could suggest which (or both) components are at fault?
