Well, its taken time but I finally blagged my Fiance to do some images for me.

As an electron microsopist images below are at strong magnification, apparently you can go to like 20,000x but this would probably defeat the purpose.

Anyways here are the images. Its a vinyl record first:

This here is a record sleeve taken face on:

And here is the record cover itself, its a cut through section, the clear bit up top is infact the gloss coating of the cover.

I really like the record surface, its amazing how little is actually going on. Or more specifically how subtle the side walls are.

Now then can any one guess the album Wink

Is it 'Best of Black Sabbath?

Do I get a prize?

This reminds me of a bloke who appeared on the TV show 'The Guinness Book of Records', who could identify records from the patterns of the grooves. They tried him out, by covering up the label, and he got it right every time!

I don't know how many he could do this on, only a few classical LPs I suspect, not my collection of Belgian New Beat 12" 1987 -1989.

Nice one, Garyi!

I can only suggest, after looking at the last image, that the record in question is in fact on "Spliff" Records. Cool

Alex, its not Zappa, we had to destroy a record to get the image as it won't all go in the microscope chamber

snigger. I am well pleased with the images, we intend to get them printed and framed for some objects of the old arty in the sitting room.

However Chris De Burgh, na I wouldn't have paid the quid for the record in the first pace, its much better than him.

Not difficult!
