Hi folks,
I'm enjoying my well deserved holiday right now,but since I'm not going any where this year,I'm left with a little amount of cash.
(let's say around 450,- UKP)
Now,as y'all may recognise, I'm thinking about
upgrading my front-end. For a while I was thinking about getting me a TT again. (s/h LP12 or something in that area, but they're so rare here in Holland,so I gave up)
Now, yesterday I called some Naim dealers in my area to see if they had some s/h Naim stuff.
Well, 1 dealer still has a Hi-cap for 50% of new price, but another dealer said he's expecting a trade in from a customer next week. A one year old CDX.
He gave me 860,- UKP for my CD3.5 + f/c if I went for the CDX. A very fair price imho, but it still leaves me with another 1000,- ukp to hand over...
now, I can sell my f/c and go for the Hi-Cap. It's
the most affordable and probably logical route.
What can I expect from going from f/c to a Hi-cap,on my 3.5 ??
damn, still no sign of that fu..ing postmen delivering my Kan stands..pfff,I expected it yesterday...bummer!
O,well. patience...Alco,..stay calm

Hi Alco,
I have also have 3.5/Hi, I went thru the stage from 3.5 to 3.5/flat, within 02 years, the difference is very obvious. the price difference of CDX & 3.5/Hi is less than GBP 500. If you have a 3.5, it is different story, anyway your dealer offered a very good price GBP 860 for 3.5 & flat
How old are they? (serial no.), I think about to trade in mine as well.
CDX is good and it has further upgrade option,
XPS, I am also thinking about CDS or brand new CDSII, I am six and seven at the moment, whether I should go for it, just in case you wondering, it's no doubt about the quality, but main question is how to convince my wife!!
cheers
Martin

Alco,
That dealer you're talking about. Does it happen to be Art in Sound in Roden? I've called him 2 weeks ago with the same question. Whe've made a deal yesterday, concerning a half year!! old CDX. He will receive it in about 1 1/2 week, from a customer. He will trade it in against a CDSII.

Hi there, Dennis
Yep! It is "Art in Sound" in Roden.
I guess we're talking about the same CDX from the same customer. I thought the salesman told me it was about a year old,but I could be wrong.
Well, when you already made the deal, you're the lucky winner. Congratulations!
I guess I'll wait for another CDX to come along or else I'll get me Hi-cap first. we'll see

Alco.

Alco,
I also have a great offer from a German guy, who clames he has a shop called 'Hifiexchange'. He offered me a brand new CDX for DM4950,-. A bargain. When I asked him how the hell this is possible he sended me the following message:
We are working with a lot of dealers in Europa together. This player comes from a good friend-
dealer. It is summertime and his stock is at the moment to big! Thats why he sold this Naim CDX!
If you want to have this player we have to order it to us, and then we will send it to the Netherlands! It takes 3-4 days! If you send the money to the Bank of this dealer . We will send you a order number. After money hase come. We will send the player to you.
I have contacted him by phone asking him if it's also possible to pick it up in Germany. He told me he could send it to a dealer near to the border. Later, he came up with a dealer in Luxembourg!!! I'm not sure if I can trust this guy, but if you like to know more I can give you his telephone number and email.

Hi Den,
Wohoow!,that sure is one hell of a bargain,a new CDX for only 4950,-!? (which is 5577,- Dutch guilders)
But,...thanx,for your reaction, but I'm afraid I haven't got the guts to order it blindly and have it sent to another dealer, etc, etc.
I'd rater buy it at a local dealer where I can trade in my CD3.5 (+ f/c)
Hfl 5500,- is almost too good to be true.
Good luck with it!
Greetings,
Alco.
