Fopp Cambridge Circus is now open, BUT I hear you cry why go there when you can go to Sister Ray, Sounds Of The Universe, Vinyl Junkies, Phonica, Music and Video Exchange, Mr CD and many more in your friendly SoHo. Independent music shops for the independently minded music LOVER!!

Oh and also the Lovely "Naim" record store also known as Rough Trade East.

Addresses given on request. Big Grin

Hi Dean

I am a big fan of the Rough Trade shops as well - the new East one being particularly impressive. Fantastic range of music, always at least one step ahead of the game, incredibly friendly, enthusiastic and knowlegeable staff, great in-store performances and... as you say...shit hot in-store hi-fi! I would recommend everyone to pay a visit if they are in London. I can't get there as often as I'd like, but they do a good mail order service as well.

Another good London record store you didn't mention is Pure Groove Records in Archway.

Hi Steeve

Yes I know Pure Groove in Archway, they use my firm for all their Courier needs but don't really stock what I like. Though if your tastes are more experimental you just have to go up the Archway Road to find Sounds323 (Avant Jazz, Improvisational Music, Modern Composition, Experimental Music) Second Layer Records (Noise, Punk, Industrial, Indie Rock) and the soon to be opened Alternative Music Shop (Folk, World Music and Jazz). Move away from the mainstream record shops and a whole new world opens up.

Thanks for those links. I wasn't aware of those shops. Certainly some very intriguing stuff and a lot of it is certainly a whole new world to me. So much music, so little time! May have to devise a business trip to the London office soon....

This is so true and that's what makes the combined Hobby of Music/HiFi so fascinating. I have had the thought that if people stopped making music tomorrow I would still have trouble hearing all the interesting stuff that has already been made.
