Arctic Monkeys

They sound really promising (from reviews, I'm still waiting for delivery of their single released this week) as far as recent years indie bands have gone but is it all hype? The Culture Show seemed impressed with them last week too.

Their first single apparently was pressed in a batch of 500 yet at least a couple of hundred copies seem to have passed through Ebay in the last few weeks comanding prices of £30 upwards.

Anyone heard them yet?

I've been listening to the free-downloadable tracks from the web (approx 30 most excellent studio album quality) and really think we have something special on the indie scene at last.

OK they sound a bit like the Buzzcocks/Strokes/Stones/various 80's punk/new wave bands and many of the lyrics may be a touch for the younger generation but I can highly recommend them to any Indie types out there.

Fresh sounding, raw, exciting and they seem to be able to knock up a good tune too. Thumbs up all round, bring on the official recorded stuff!

Couldn't agree with you more Jonathon! Great band, great tunes, and a truely great live band.

Really like the way they used the net to promote themselves. It's just nice to have a band in the charts that have a passion and energy for music!

Lets hope Coldplay, James Blunt and all the other bland 'song writer types' take note!

I also agree, first new band with real energy and pounding rythems with something interesting to say for a long while. Great.
