Free energy? The solution to global pollution?

Science fiction or science fact? Gobbledigook and fraud or brilliant science and invention suppresed by governments to keep us all addicted to fossil fuels as there is no profit in free energy?

You decide

An introduction to Zero Point Energy

Still watching....got up to the electric car so far. Very interesting stuff Acad.

Just finished. Some of the things in this film are amazing, but this is nearly 10 years old. Where is this technology now? Suppressed? Probably, I think. After all the world has been working on a viable alternative to the internal combustion engine for decades. You'd think that if the 'world' really wanted one it would have it by now.

Thanks Acad.

Thanks Mark,

To think we could be driving around in cars that do 60MPG on water for fuel with no carbon emissions or leave Naim gear on all the time without guilt but governments wont let us because they lose billions in revenue even though it could cost us our planet??

I dont know much about this stuff but I have a friend who is an expert in Zero Point Energy and he thinks he has found the holy grail of ZPE and that it could save the planet. He cant get any funding and works out of his back bedroom and he is seriously in fear of being killed. For years I have thought him to be slightly barking. The documentary is towards the whacko fringe in places rather than the hard core science fringe but the hard core academic fringe is growing all the time. My friend hosted an International seminar at a UK university in 1991. I will try to get an update of things - as you rightly say the film is 10 years old.

Regards,

Acad

Are you guys for real?

Free, zero-carbon energy doesn't grow on trees!!!!!!!!!!! (*)

Somebody, somewhere has to intervene WITH A GADGET.

Why not make (and sell) these gadgets. And suggest to Gordon Brown & Co that they TAX everybody when they buy one and continue to TAX everybody when they use them. An army of beaurocrats could be created to measure comsumption and to administer the revenue collections.

Bigger benefits then include (appart from the carbon problem being solved), removal from circulation of large chuncks of wealth that would otherwise be used to pollute the planet; large surplusses of government funding for health and education; large drop in unemployment as both the currently unemployed and all the fossil-fuel industry workers will be absorbed into this exciting new growth-industry..........

Dream on.....

Cheers

Don

(*) bugger it. got that bit wrong.

Hmm, came across a rather funny item on either radio or TV recently about how all those Guy Fawkes bonfires would be adding to global warming.

Unfortunately, shouting at the TV doesn't help (other than making me feel a little better).

cheers, Martin

Well Acad,

I've watched it, and I must say there is a fair few recipes in it, let's hope we're around to taste some of them!

You'd think some of em could've taken time out to go the barbers though Big Grin

Beano is Iran and North Korea playing scientific catch-up?

Beano,

Goes on a bit doesn't it? I thought some of it jolly interesting and some of it a bit tedious and as for the long hair chap with the levitating balls, well, I dont know what to say. Is it all true? Is some of it true? I think we should be told.

Not watched the film (it's 1hr 50 long) - But did some Physics so perhaps inflammatory comments follow:-

But while Zero Point energy can be shown to exist and push two metal plates (that are very close) together. Or cause differences in particle collisions and cause evaporation of black holes (Hawking radiation) no one has been able to extract it. Not saying they can't but how do you say separate a +e and -e within plank time and then recombine outside plank time to get the energy (Taking a guess here but a miniature black hole may be needed) harnessing them is another matter.

Funny thing is that these may be able to be created in the new Cern collider - this may not be a good thing - the theory says they will evaporate but will they?
There are other things that the collider could unleash - hopefully it will find the Higgs boson (God Particle) and not destroy the known universe <Grin>

Be fun to see what happens when they turn it on.

Hi Stuart,

Yes CERN has been looking at ZPE for awhile now. I don't think the Higgs boson exists except on paper.

I will let you turn the collider on - I wouldnt want to be on the same continent at the same time. Its amazing how many millions have been spent on building it when so many of their scientists admit to not really knowing what will happen during certain experiments!! Eek

Questions:-

What papers did the US Government seize - are they now available or still classified?

Am I being dense but while energy density may be high for a point in time over the minimum we can detect/use i.e. plank time the average is zero? How can we detect things less than plank time.

Dunno. Will think about it.
