New UK terrorist plot foiled
UK police raided houses in Birmingham this morning and have arrested 7 people in connection with an alledged plot to kidnap a British Army Muslim soldier recently returned from Afghanistan, force him to plead for his life in exchange for British withdrawl from Iraq/Afghanistan, then execute him and post film footage on the internet.
This week, David Cameron (opposition party leader) suggested that many Muslim groups in Britain were the mirror image of the BNP (British National Party which hold extremist right-wing views) and critisism has been raised that these Muslim groups have been unwilling to condem the terrorist bombings in London on 7/7/05.
The Governing Party has been under severe pressure this week about Police enquiries into allegations that it offered Peerages in return for party funds. And Blair is under daily pressure to resign.
Could today's police raids simply be a false-flag operation designed to resolve all our other problems?
Have there been any other terrorist attacks (or foiled attacks) in the USA since the 9/11 outrages? if so, why don't they get reported in the UK. If not, why do we seem to have had so many in the UK. Are they all false-flag operataions?
Cheers
Don

And finally, could the parent post be a false flag operation?

We will know it was a real event when some completely innocent by-stander is shot dead in public by some half-wit of a policeman.

Oh, and obviously you'd do sooo much better in the same position...

Quite possible. It seems I have to do Acad's job for him as well as my own, these days.
IMHO, the British police do a grand job, even in very difficult circumstances.
Terrorist plots develop in stages from conception, through early planning, reconn etc through to execution.
Its much easier for the police to continue surveillance right through to execution so as to collect sufficient evidence for a succesful prosecution of those directly involved.
But would our society be satisfied, if each time we had to wait until a murderous crime was committed before taking action. Or should the police be empowered (as at present) to step in early, in order to prevent a terrorist crime - assuming they are accountable for their decision and actions.
Should a terrorist found guilty of plotting to carry out a bombing or a murder, be punished the same as a terrorist found guilty of carrying out a bombing or a murder ?
Cheers

Keep up the good work

. Having recently been part of a fight between a bicycle I was riding and a car driven by a blind cretin I have been a tad indisposed of late.
You have asked some good questions. I will think of some answers later this week. I think it is a very murky area indeed and finding any clarity is fraught due to what I can only describe as dodgy and sensationalist media reporting. Certainly I thought the words used in the TV news reports were outrageous and who are these so called 'security experts' the media trot out and the so called 'experts on terrorism' - who are they, what are their qualifications, who do they work for? What is their agenda? I find it bizarre how one reporter stresses the 'alleged' nature of the er 'allegations' one minute, and then talks as if the 'terrorists' were actually caught in the act and how there is no actual evidence the next followed by admitting the arrests follow a six month police/MI5 operation.

This whole 'we know they are planning it but we dont have any evidence' is deeply disturbing - its the sort of thing that goes on South America or police states. Who watches the watchers? This is the age old question.

Hope you are well, Acad, and that it was not too serious, although you have been away a while so I am guessing it wasn't a scrape on the knee!
Regards
Mark

Mark,
Thanks. More than a scrape on a knee but nothing too serious. Having dislocated fingers relocated is not pleasant. I may need an op but only minor stuff on my hand and nothing to worry about.
Cheers,
Acad bruised but not beaten
