Jackson Browne world tour

I caught the kickoff gig the other night, at Auckland's very own Civic Theatre. It was an excellent show I must say, despite having an air of timewarp about it. Two solid hours of music is good value these days, especially when topped off with 3 encores - in response to 3 standing ovations, it should be noted.

He's not shy of exploring his back catalogue (Fountain of Sorrow, The Pretender, Doctor My Eyes etc.), nor indeed of responding to audience requests. But naturally there was a heap of stuff off his latest album, which stands up well IMHO. He can certainly still knock a decent song together.

Question is, in these days when anything not at least covertly hip-hop influenced sounds time-warped, does anybody really care?

I saw him open for Tom Petty recently. He is a great studio musician but wasn't too sharp that night. I'm glad he was better when you saw him. He did do a lot of songs - both new and old. Tom Petty on the other hand rocked out for two solid hard hours.
