Vista......anyone?

The Vista trap. Probably best to stay with XP for a while. Or maybe better still, go for an i-mac.

Are you saying the Windoze PC is essentially a games console?
For me, definitely. Much more customisable than a gaming console and the titles generally have more depth than the same title released for consoles. Also, the SDKs released with the PC versions puts a lot of user generated material on the net. I'm also a big fan of Microsoft Flight Simulator and have owned the last four versions. I must also confess to the occasional bit of pointless benchmarking for the sheer sake of benchmarking. Nothing like a wee bit of innocent overclocking in the dead of night either.
Do the nice people at Apple allow you Mac owners to tweak your own computers? Or do you just have to settle for Apple's idea of system integration?

ROTF, there is and it's called Linux. I very rarely use XP on the internet and then only to check for updates.
Linux I use daily for internet usage and Open Office for Word processing & spreadsheets.
Like OS/X I'm not afflicted by a bloated OS or the 99% of varii, spyware and malware specifically written for windows.

Deanne, you just don't get it do you?
I don't want to sit up naked a night tweaking a fucking computer!
I am glad you 'came out' it puts your argument into a lot more perspective, you are an MS flight Simulator Geek!

Yes Linux is fine - I've it used quite often as well as Solaris and some other Unix OSs. Mainly as server though to run Apache, MySQL and so on. I have used the Linux desktop to run Nessus, NMap and MetaSploit, but I tend to do this on Mac OS X now because I like the Aqua interface and the power of Applescript combined with the Unix shell and Perl. Open Office is great.
My favourite desktop OS is AmigaOS, which is based on Tripos, and is really compact; the other OS I really like is Inferno from Lucent. I don't suppose either will ever be more than a curio, but both are well in advanced of what most people use. AmigaOS does have sufficient applications to keep most folk happy, but very limited support which rules it out for most users.

Shame the author couldn't have taken his own advice.

Oh, he's a complete arsehole. I was originally shown his page on children's art - which I thought was pretty funny. I check his page from time to time - but usually through boredom.
