Emily Remler

Posted by: Clive B on 13 March 2009

I just added this to the "Artists you are surprised not to see discussed on this forum" thread and thought I'd see if I could get away with it as a thread in its own right.

...And with much of her catalogue now unavailable, I guess it'll take forums like this to keep her memory alive. I can thoroughly recommend 'East to Wes' (still a desert island disc for me), but there are so many other albums by her that have become impossibly expensive because of their rarity. Of course, if anyone has a copy of Together with Larry Coryell, Take Two or Transitions maybe they'd be kind enough to drop me an e-mail?

Thanks and regards,
CB

got them somewhere on vinyl. Haven't listened to them for 10 years +

Excellent...very impressed. The thing for me that separates the likes of Montgomery, Farlow etc from many is that in addition to really locking into the groove, they sound quite loose, flicking off left and right on their own little trip. I love that, and she nails it. Can I get East to Wes on cd still?

If I were to send you a cassette, is there any chance you might record them for me?

Thanks and regards,
CB

Most certainly. 'East to Wes' and 'Firefly' are still available from Amazon.co.uk. I think they're reasonably priced too. I most strongly recommend 'East to wes' - it's perfect!

CB,
I have Together on vinyl and have transferred it onto 256 kbps AAC for iTunes. Send me your e-mail and you can have it in drib and drab attachments if you like

No because I don't have a cassette recorder anymore. If I find them - and that's not guaranteed we can come to some agreement and you can have them

Please have a look, I would be rather keen to hear more of the brilliant Ms. Remler.

Thanks,

Thanks for your kind offer, but my MP3 player is by Sony and uses ATRAC3+ software. I don't think the AAC file will work for me. If, however, you know otherwise let's give it a go.

You don't seem to be able to e-mail direct through the member profile on this forum, so do you know how I could tell you my e-mail address without declaring it to the world?

Cheers,
CB

Clive,

I have a copy of Catwalk on vinyl which is surplus to requirements. I can be contacted at mshort at freeuk dot com

Thanks for the offer, Mark, but I already have Catwalk. Those I want to get hold of now are 'Transitions' and 'Take Two'. That would complete my collection of Emily's material.

Thanks for the offer though!

Cheers, CB
