A British soldier who died following a roadside bomb attack in southern Iraq has been named as Corporal John Rigby from the 4th Battalion The Rifles.

Cpl Rigby's death takes the total number of UK troops killed in operations in Iraq since hostilities began in 2003 to 153.

Also:

A cousin of the late Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to death by an Iraqi court for the murder of some 180,000 Kurds in 1988.

Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as "Chemical Ali" for using poison gas in the Anfal campaign, was convicted of genocide.

A sad piece of perspective I think.
