The question is, which existing power amplifier will follow the 140, and what will its replacement be called?
NAP 150?
Dave Dever, NANA
Intro II --> Intro II
Credo
--> Vivo
SBL
NBL --> NBL
DBL --> DBL
Next move is SBL replacement at higher price point, then perhaps a rework of the DBL?
Nait 3
--> Nait 5
90
140
--> 150
180
250
--> Super 250
135
Six pack --> 500
Then either monoblocks or a 180 replacement.
92
--> 112
72
102 --> ??
82 --> 82-5
52 --> 52-5
Aro --> Buy now or cry later

The idea of the existing pre-amps being upgraded somewhat, and powered by a better-than-SuperCap supplies seems very Naim-like to me!
Sproggle,
it has always struck me as a little humourous that a company that espouses source & preamp upgrades before power amps & speakers should make systems which, in their ultimate form, are heavily biased towards power amps.
The 52, CDS's, Aro & Armageddon obviously demonstrated the worth of Naim's philosophy. The NAP500 would plainly be ludicrous without them.
I do hope, though, that we're not about to see a whole new tier of source & preamp components at three times the price of the current top-line stuff.
Is the NAP500 really the shape of things to come?
cheers, Martin

Martin,
Frightening but I think we are.
The 52 is more than 10 years old now and the last big upgrade to it was the Supercap.
The CDS2 is now three? years old and was always going to be a (bloody good) compromise given that Philips stopped making their best transport and thus killed off the CDS1. So, think what Naim could do if they got their hands on a run of really good transports again.
Then there's the 'style' of the NAP 500 - its just crying out for a new range of CD/Preamp/UltraCap etc
Three times the current price would nicely match the leap from a pair of 135s to the 500, he he he!
Cheers
