Banco de Gaia ( For throbnorth!)

Posted by: Lee on 14 May 2002

Just browsing the 'Last 5 things you listened to' thread and noticed throbnorth was regretting the deletion of Banco de Gaia's stuff.

Good News: they're being reissued!
Snip from latest carbondisks.com mail-out

BANCO DE GAIA Last Train To Lhasa CD 9.99 Disco Geko Reissue
of exotic ambient dubists second album.
BANCO DE GAIA Maya CD 8.99 Disco Geko Reissue of exotic
ambient dubists debut

I can recommend both albums if you're into ambient electronica and carbondisks.com as a supplier to feed your habit...

cheers

Thank you Lee, I'm so flattered! I will take up your web ref. right away and have a spend up.. Igizeh is never out of my drawer, and I find myself singing little snatches of it all the time, even though I wouldn't have believed it to be that catchy.

Nick, - yes I know [Q reviews] - I saw that and thought bollocks..... sometimes their re-issue reviews are a bit flaky, I remember them giving Forever Changes two stars [TWO STARS!!!] and saying it was overblown whimsy. I think they have revised their opinion somewhat since then...

Talking of Q, what did anyone think of their freebie this month? The Cooper Temple Clause was quite nice, and Telepopmusik had a certain charm, but after playing it I felt really quite depressed - I yearned to rush out and buy copiously, but it all sounded about 10-20 years old. I like Jesus & Mary Chain ripoffs as much as the next guy, but if these are Q's 'most promising new acts around', then oh dear.....
