customers may never get the chance of comparing components in these combination, but there is a difference the dac is a hub, ive got the dac and it has 4 different inputs, cd transport/sacd for 16bit out put/ dab/and sonos, , thus improving all inputs not just cd allan

It's difficult to know why or where the issue is in that combo but their source comment may give a clue. There's a rumor that Naim will address this issue and show a streamer themselves at Munich. Nobody's corrected me on this so perhaps it's more than a rumor.

What timeframe for streamer?

OK, how many boxes should be in the Naim streamer range? Is the UnitiQute a Sneaky? That leaves room for three more, or does it make more sense to bolt a DAC onto a smaller range?

I remember a thread a while back where someone took the trouble to list all the possible combinations of Naim boxes - how many more do we need? (I've already got far too many - Linn Klimax is starting to make sense from that point of view

Two perhaps.

One in an XS case (built in Supernait spec DAC) with SP/DIF for connection to N-DAC for up-graders.

One in Reference case - built in N-DAC, upgrade with XPS2/555PS.

That should do it.

I'm kinda hoping this will have a better DAC - maybe a Wolfson chip - and I suspect it will need a 555PS. Plus the heavy old suspended brass chassis. But I'll be well impressed if they churn that out within two years, but we live in hope

I heard the Akurate against a CD5i and preferred the Naim CDP - no contest IMHO. The Naim DAC sounded superb in the demo I heard and better than any such device I've heard - which only goes to show you should never believe anything you read in magazines: you have to listen for yourself - I'm not keen on the Linn DSs I've heard.
