Old 250s
Posted by: Haddock on 17 January 2004
I've been offered an old 250 (s/n 15xx). It's a screw together chrome bumper case but in mint looking condition. As far as I know it hasn't been back to Naim for a service.
Does anybody have a feel for how much it should be worth?
thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick
Difficult to put a price on it.
Contact Mark Raggett in Naim's service department - they are sometimes interested in seeing their old babies if they haven't been messed with.
Fully serviced and looking nice, it's value could start to appreciate as a piece of 'classic' hi-fi kit.
Good luck.

I sold two in 2003, both had had main SLCE caps replaced in 2002. No orig boxes. sold one where all bits inside looked perfect for £400 and one where a couple of resisters had been slightly cooked but still working perfectly for£340

Allow £240 for a service, after which it would be worth probably £600-700???. So £360 to £460 is about right. It wouldn't fetch as much as a sleeved chrome bumper model, but would sound the same. If it has the very old round mains plug, you may want to update that to the current standard. I did mine myself with an electric drill and a file to make a new hole for the socket.
It would be a very nice amp.
