The Who - Kentish Town Forum

Posted by: count.d on 13 February 2004

March 22nd.

I've just bought tickets for The who at Kentish Town Forum, London.

What's this venue like?
It sounds small, the smaller the better.

The Forum is a pretty good venue. If memory isn't playing tricks, it's larger than the Shepherd's Bush Empire, but not as large as the Brixton Academy. At the two concerts that I saw there (Sonic Youth and Queens of the Stone Age) volume, the sound quality was pretty good. Admittedly, volume rather than acoustical fidelity seemed to be the predominate driver. Unfortunately, it is not like the old Marquee Club if that is what you were hoping for.

I didn't realise The Who were touring. I guess that they have probably sold out already. ;-( How do people manage to get tickets so quickly? How do concerts sell out in 8 minutes?

I thought I'd best warn you that half the Who are actually dead.

Thanks Willito,

I think I'd be happy if volume is the predominate driver with The Who.

As far as getting tickets, you just have to keep your eyes peeled and be online before the release date. As far as I know details of the three gigs at Kentish were only released yesterday and tickets went on sale this morning at 10:00am.

You can always try Ebay. I'm sure people would have bought them this morning and put them on Ebay within an hour.

The face value was only £35. Made a pleasant suprise this morning.

The concert on Monday was superb. The Kentish Town Forum is a superb venue. The Who were superb. The sound was the best I've heard at any venue. Is this because the venue is small and the sound doesn't need to be amplified so much?

I was standing right at the front/centre.

Classic night.

er, and the drums?

Bassist was Pino Palladino, Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) was on drums and Pete Townsend's brother Simon, was on second guitar.

Isn't Daltrey small? I could fit him in my pocket.

They should just call themselves Pete&Rog really. At least there are three Rolling Stones left, and Bill's not even dead.
