cdp or pre upgrade

yet another upgrade dilemma !
I have recently upgraded my power amp from a 180 to a 250 (olive) and am very pleased, but the upgraditus hasnt yet been cured Roll Eyes
I now have several opions to pursue and would love comments/suggestions/expirences
Current system CD5+Hi+102+Hi+Napsc+250+Dyn1.1 and a redundant NAP180.
1. Sell off the 180 and 102 and buy a s/h 82
2. As above but buy s/h CDx
3. Trade in 180 and 102 and buy new 282 (need to add about £1500 to the deal)
4. As 3 but CDS11 (about the same cash needed)

oh dear so many choices.
The reason why i am considering a trade in is both to get into the new stuff plus its easier than trying to sell on the S/h market (not much interest so far in the 180 Frown

Phil,

I've been suffering chronically from the same illness...!
Gone from CD 2 to CDS II, from 82 HC to 82/SC and just recently to 252; ..and from Wilson Benesch ACT 1 to ACT 2.
EACH single one of these steps gave some or considerable improvements in their own right.
The biggest ? Difficult to say !
However in an overall (and I mean improving the other sources such as Tuner & Record player) it was probably ACT 1 To 2 and right now to the 252.
With other words – (and of course IMHO only !): If you have only CD’s as your main source – go for the CDS II, otherwise you may have a more overall & immediate benefit, by going to the 282; (your steps 1 and 2, I can’t comment)

No chance of that upgrade, My wife will accept me tinkering / upgrading /even spending cash on anything BUT not the current apperance of the room. so a change in Rack is out !
The main point of my post is what will give me more a cdp upgrade or a pre ?
I will demo both but am leaning towards a pre upgrade first as I am sure SACD will be here soon and a corisponding player will be cheaper than the CDS2 ?

Thats were I was going I think, I do like the sound of the CD5+Hi so will stick with this, my real question is "whats the difference between a 282 and the old 82, and is there any problems linking up olive Hicaps and 250" ?
