Where did the bass go?

Today I committed the cardinal sin of making more than one change to my system:
1. "finished" the dedicated spur (ie tidied up). This included some advice I saw on the forum (put the audio spur CB first in line for power, tightened the consumer unit ground (really loose - took 3 turns!)
2. Since the amps were powered down, took the opportunity to dress all 4 naim speaker cable plugs following the advice to have the prongs free to move in the plastic case. I can't find the original post about this. I left the centre screw slightly loose in each plug to ensure the metal prongs are free to move in the plastic housing
3. Adjusted TT level and bounce (since I had moved it)

So....

The change was incredible - I can only describe the sound as THRILLING incredibly dynamic, that 3D feeling of the music, realism and so much more music. But I didn't hear any bass! I thought this may be something to do with the TT, but something similar was also happening with CD.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can it be explained? I am confused.

Could it be something as simple as not plugging your speakers in phase ?

Thanks, good suggestion, but I checked the phase with a test record and it's good. What's more, the sound is so good that I know the bass must be in there, it's just different from anything I've heard before - I realise that previously the sound I had was just a better version of what you hear in Demos etc. What I have now is immersion in music, up and down, side to side, (to a small extent front to back) even diagonal dynamic sound if this makes sense to anyone. I now believe the bass is there, I still just can't believe the difference. Has anyone else looked at their NACA5 plugs recently?
