Naim compatibility with Mains conditioners etc

For "lower" end, isotek substation GII works, but for a higher end-system, I'd read Paul Messengers review in HiFi+ issue nr 40.

obviously you are looking for an active device (for what reason ever). The filtering mains cables and the power conditioner PowerIsolator 8 from Transparent are doing quite a nice job. While retaining the swing and the dynamics of my 202/200, they added a fine sense of texture, room and ease to the whole presentation. Definitely worth a try, especially the PowerIsolator, which also includes a surge protection circuit.

As I said before I am trying to find experiences of integrating Naim kit with non Naim kit.

How the **** is that considered off topic as Graham suggests in order that some complete **** shifts it to an off topic group so noone will make any further contribution.

I suppose the only posts that survive on here are the ones that waste everyones time bleating on about what equipment they possess and all the equipment they are thinking about buying, but will never have the money to buy!!!

Finally my honest opinion is that this group is moderated by people who should be replaced forthwith as they certainly do nothing to improve the image of Naim.

The list of mains conditioners is long and I suggest that if you want to try one then that is the only way to find out what they do in your system.

Why not give the James Audio conditioner a try and report back with your findings

You're rather missing the point. Naim actively advise against using mains filtering devices. So there's not a lot of point in using Naim's own website to seek opinions as to which mains filtering products are best and then name-calling if your posts are removed to another part of the site or off the site altogether.

Frankly, I'd prefer the latter each time the same flipping question crops up!

This is a hard topic to discuss - I use a Hydra and it works well, but it is not what you are after, as you need something to protect your naim kit from something not quite right with the mains - you are not as I understand it, hoping for sonic improvements.

When I had Croft amps, I tried a very expensive mains conditioner that produced virtually perfect sine waves and could totally protect me from mains outages, spikes and so on. At the very worst, it should not have had an adveres effect on my amplifier; I expected it to improve the sound. Needless to say the Croft went pop and had to go away for repair. So I can understand why everybody is cautious on this subject.

I found a dedicated mains spur for my naim kit a worthwhile investment and lots of forum members do sing the praises of the James Audio conditioner.

The Caras sound great (Jarrett - La Scala), I think I'll never give them away. Have decided to make them the only constant in my system - like a fix star (insider joke for all forum members working in the space environment...)

To say an FAQ would be a good idea is total tat. What on earth would that do?

The fact that Naim do not recommend using conditioning is great. Its a shame they don't pay for all my repairs then to recompense me for taking all their advice to the full.

I hear many questions on this group about the benefits of competitors products, are you saying that some of these recommendations are in Naims interest too?

I have made 2 enquiries about a second hand Hydra 6 & an 8. If I purchase I will feedback to the group my findings. Maybe Naim would be interested in hearing about their customers problems and the lengths they aren/t going to rectify them.

I really have to make a complaint here.

I asked very politely for assistance for a real problem I have here and a good response was received by a few thoughtful individuals, however, i believe there are others here (rackkit & graham55 in particular) who believe they have a right to run and control this group to the detriment of Naim Audio and I will be taking this up with them at 10am UK time tomorrow.

If this group is sponsored or owned by them I will feel somewhat aggreived at paying the £2200 I now owe them for repairs and upgrades if they allow pompous individuals to make damning judgements on genuine users without recourse.

Your location reads in reverse "Naim Audio, London" I will be taking this matter up with them in the morning as I am quite offended by a Naim employee or dealer remark made against me.
