Cynics Clinic Innit !

Having just enjoyed my freshly ground daily milk coffee, or 'au'lait' as they say in Italy, these thoughts came to mind, of which I'll share with you all and can be either totally ignored, read or/and commented upon, as per usual, as easy as that as it always is, innit Adam me old cycle-Jister ?
Second paragraph already 'that's a first !". Well I've certainly learn't a lot about pre-amps this week, but I was considering more Britain's freshly pensioned off ex-senior copper, ie, Sir John Stevens who recently in a well sold rag (NOW) stated that in his opinion there are at least 100, and more likely 200 serious folk walking around in the UK that constitute a threat to national security. His equally worthy successor Sir Ian Blair strangely enough has chosen (wisely in my opinion) not to comment whatso'ever, neither affirming nor denying Sir John's claims, which to the average 'NOW' reader may well seem confusing³ ? One of Britain's best selling rags today in fact didn't have any mention of any news from whereever in the world today at all at all, barring a certain British idiotic dj who had apparently slept overnight with a woman after partying somewhere. I'm aware people only want to read and hear nice things that they approve of, that's why the Times, Guardian and Daily Mail have such support in UK, but it's a little worrying at such times as these me-thinks, or is it the 'head in sand' syndrome, that'll suit certain party's if not indeed certain individuals very nicely thank you !in fact in a little while it'll be quite normal for Politicians to lock people up (Charles Clark won't be around for ever, and the judges bit after 7 days is just not gonna happen, issit Our Mick ? Hats off to the House of Lords who in the last few days have faught nail & Claw against bombastic odds to protect 800 years of British Civil Rights (we almost invented the stuff ?) Not going into the old Lords argumenmt (I strongly dissaprove of Hereditory Peers) but I'm sure we will one day see Lord Blair of Poplar in it's ranks, following such great's as Callaghan etc, though naturally the only 'TRUE' Socialist in today's Parliament gave up his title years afore, namely Mr Wedgwood-Benn, the old China.
For those of you non UK folk who may not be aware of the fact that in the last few years or so the British Government has attemted to improve its lack of properly trained coppers across the board by filling the gap with seriously 'doubtful' folk in uniform called 'Community Support Officers' who in essence are all well and good, though in the guise of local community watch/come street workers, and not pretend 'unwarranted' policemen & women in uniform. This 'Percy Sugden' green light for many folk to wear a uniform and stick their noses into others business (neighbours etc) is a very dangerous game indeed, and will only put fuel to the fire (especially in low run down areas, that lack yoof clubs, and proper playing fields with changing rooms etc, etc), our recent banter on this forum about 'little hitler's' re: traffic Wardens etc, does have a certain ring to it, many of these folk would never be accepted by the Military or Police, not to mention other agencies, (barring Prisons naturally) where they really always shine.
Special Constables have existed for many years and I suspect they are far from happy at this latest attempt to lower their own failing moral. As with the States, many reservists (TA / N-Guard etc) have been mobilised for Iraq etc, and pushed numbers to the limit, quality is rapidly being diminished I feel, to cater for politcal smartie points at home. Well the good news is that's all for now folks, as today for the first time in many months it's actually a few degrees above 0°C for once here in sunny Berlin City, so I'll go out and enjoy the warmth, and save on my heating bills at last, innit. Winker

Fritz Von I was wondering as in many countries (quite rightly so) it's very very difficult to adopt a child by childless couples, one wonders therefor when in our beloved (UK) Nanny State when something goes wrong bigstyle, the State is nowhere to be seen, and the parents only appear to be the guilty party getting dragged through the system without mercy, and subsequently pilloried by the afore.mentioned gutter press that the majority of the country reads and takes as God's own Gospel ?

N.B. My new digital camera is in the post if anybody was wondering (which I doubt) I'll tell you all about it when it arrives, I'm wery excited innit.

If of course in the unholy situation of something big and nasty happening in the UK within the next few months the Prime Minister's present arse covering argument manouvers in respect of "What will the Country then say when it's too late scenario ?" I feel are so weak that they might just get swallowed. As he rightly said a fortnight ago at question time, "todays 'threat' is very different than that of the 'Irish' situation threat to mainland Britain in the past", and let hope of course it says that way, innit.
As we mourn the brilliant & beloved Dave Allen, you will note that he very rarely touched upon the 'troubles' in his work, and as with other great writers and comedians etc of the last century with Irish blood (threads passim) did only so at their peril irrespective of who they were, Milligan comes to mind, let alone Wilde. During the 'troubles' Irish people in UK were outcast eventually labelled as all being potential terrorists (I lived and saw it daily in London) and this ignorance continues today in many UK prisons etc on a daily basis, fuelling future hate & anger. The beloved Abe Lincoln suspended Haubus-Corpus during the US Civil War, as with many Countries also locking up 'foreign' citizens during the last War (for their safety). With all the afore-mentioned Community Support OIfficers etc, mentioned in my last rant waiting and ready for any Civil Disorder and the immediate Draconian Powers (Marshal Law etc) that DO/WILL come into force very swiftly if need be, one can only but wonder. I'm sure certain Wiltshire gentlemen would have me in the Tower by now for treason, though A UK passport holder (not able to vote anymore) I present no political threat I fear.
Many Britsh & German ex-pats (that I know of) living in Spain and elsewhere (pensioned) are so entrenched nowadays (few learning the local lingo properly even after decades living there) that some have even tried to form local political parties (using thier own language only) and have trouble undferstanding the wrath and anger of the Spanish locals etc who (in their eyes) have so benfited from their stay. Not so Bonny Prince Charles's recent Pacific visit had to be laughed at somewhat for its success (though hat's off to the Fijians, and the to the other countries for their honesty), The Irish Free State isn't neutral without a reason, and one really qwonders how far certain Britain's hypocacy and ignorance willo go ( have to be regulkarly reminded of this, or it'll conveniently go away, eh Mick ?).

Fritz Von General Tommy Frank's (U.S. Supreme Commander, after Condo & Dubya) was quoted 'LAST YEAR' as saying that if in the terrible event of another 'Sept 11' type scenario in the US, the Constituion will be suspended and a State of Marshal Law quickly implimented (as one would imagine it should be ?) innit. Big Grin

N.B. Having been accused of being looney, schizophrenic, a Mason, etc, over the last few months in this place which obviously doesn't annoy me, but I feel others might be all the same perturbed by such parsonal attacks, I feel manybe more pre-emptive administratory judgement could be invoked, and "Pike," "I've told you before I wont have chewing gum at my parade, spit it out at once" "Shabby Yankee Tricks"
