Apple Lossless & Mono Files

Lossless is supposed to auto-detect stereo or mono files when ripping. There is no option to choose stereo or mono as there is with the other formats. Yet when I rip a mono recording in Lossless and look at the summary of the file, it says stereo. Anyone else notice this? Anyone think this is a problem?

What are you using for ripping software?

Also, what is the "summary of the file" you are looking at.

Keep in mind, jut because something says "stereo" does not necessarily entail that the left and right signals are not identical.

iTunes. The summary is what you see when you enter command i.

I will bust out my Macbook and rip some mono recordings....see what up.

A simple Adobe Audition, or other spectral analysis would show you straight away what is going on.
