CD boards ?

Maybe a stupid question, but what is it???
I have a CDX /Nac102.... and I don't need any cd board to make it work.
I have:... read Nac52 "with cd board"
Could you explain me?

Instead of a plug in phono board for socket 1, the Nac 52 in question has a CD board. These were around in the early days of CD when a bit of attenuation and filtering were in order.
Nowdays, a straight through board is the choice.

Charles,
these are the "CD" boards for the 52, which also have a variable gain feature.
The straight-through boards are simply a single trace, from one end of the board to the other.
cheers, Martin

Thank you Martin, but if I have understood everything, we don't need these cd boards anymore?

Only for equity gain ie to stop the speakers being fried when you inadvertently switch from Phono to CD without adjusting the volume

Steve,
if they have the little square blue-and-white pot (and a V label) then they're variable/CD boards.
I don't know if it's worthwhile, but it should be safe to remove them. If these are on the BNC input, then I'm not sure if there's some link on the motherboard which gets used instead??
It might be worthwhile putting straight-through boards in instead. This is what I've recently done on my 52, and I'd swear my TV sounds better connected this way than into a DIN socket. Mind you, I've tweaked a few other things, too, so might not be that!
