Installing new cd/dvd burner in pc
Posted by: warwick on 09 May 2006
I've installed a new cd/dvd burner in my pc.
Followed instructions of techie friend, except cant't find switch or whatever it is to select master for the top orginal cd drive and slave for the newlly installed cd/dvd burner.
Manual absolutely useless.
Samsung 16/6 Writemaster 40 quid from PC World.
Yeah I know that Sting & A&M said home taping is killing music.

Master and slave is usually selected via jumpers on the drive units themselves. On pretty much every drive I've seen the descriptions for the jumper settings have been on stickers on the drives so no additional documentation is usually required.
Some drives have the option that they can be jumpered to a cable select option where the position on the cable determines which is the master and which is the slave - I tend to set the jumpers myself though.

Success. Followed advice of PC World help desk.
Took at guess that the tiny white thing at back of burner was the switch. Took it out and put it back
next door. I am now fully equipped to perform an illegal operation. I'm sure Sony (major record company too) make blank cds. Never heard of a
private individual getting in trouble.

Where exactly do you live - some poor hard-up artists like Sting and Reg Dwight want to know.
Nigel Blackwell (HMHB) said he couldn't give a Dukla Prague away strip if you copy his albums.
