Deleting tracks and al***s
Posted by: docmark on 30 August 2010
I'm starting to pull my hair out. I've been trying to delete some tracks & albums using the Naim Desktop Client, version 1.5a, I believe. Nothing happens. The "Delete" under the Edit menu is greyed out. Can't delete anything. Any ideas?

Would this be with the HDX?

Sorry, yes.

Actually, the version of DTC I'm using is 2.0.7.1140

You have the right version.
Highlight the album you want to errase and right clic then Delete.

I had this issue in the DTC with an album which didn't rip properly. I deleted it using the HDX front screen menu (actually done in a browser over the network). The important bit is to then empty the recycle bin.

I found out what I was doing wrong - trying to delete some files from my NAS using the DTC. Doesn't work.

Confusing. So how do you do it, then?

The HDX / NS0x / UnitiServe can only delete music from their own internal drives or from network stores which they "own" and you should not manually add / delete / modify data on a network store.
Network shares are not managed by the server and if you wish to delete music from a share then you just delete it using Windows Explorer.
Cheers

I'm using an Iomega home media drive as my NAS. Seems to work well, though sometimes difficult to delete music. This drive has many hi-res files, which I loaded by dragging them from the backup drive into the music folder of the NAS. My HDX is able to access them as far as I can tell.

How do you do that? I don't have the latest HDX software (long story). I have deleted numerous albums with DTC; now System Status says
Recycle Bin - 61 albums
Recycle Bin - 0 MB
Huh? Are they completely deleted or not?

No - and you should definitely update (or send to us to do this for you).
