To the science world as well - after all, where would we be today without the 'Clarke orbit' (his 1945 paper 'Extra-Terrestrial Relays - Can Rocket Stations Give Worldwide Radio Coverage?' has had a bit of an impact).

He wrote some of the best sci-fi books ever IMHO. I hope he enjoyed his life!
