Oh yes it has!

That was the most inept display of batting and bowling I have seen from an England side in a long time. Yes the Aussies were a great side but it was like men against boys etc etc etc.

Time to say goodbye and thanks to some of the all-time cricketing greats.

Warne, McGrath and Langer are just immense cricketers and although England have been on the end of gleeful beatings from them on so many occasions it is time to recognise the huge contribution they have made to the game.

So long guys and, er, thanks for kicking our arses with such humour and enjoyment and for being top, top sportsmen.

We won't miss you though you bastards!

As I'm writing this, the Twenty20 match isn't even over yet, but . . .

6 - nil!

The poms are actually 0-8, the other two losses were to scratch teams (Prime Ministers and Chairmans XI). Three warm-up games against state sides all ended in draws, so they are yet to win a single match on tour.

Tonight's effort was just pitiful, they'll need to find a new team by Friday.

Aggers, Beefy, Nasser, Athers, Greigy, Boycott, Gower and probably half a dozen others are sitting around doing commentary when they're not scoffing pies, maybe they could pitch in. Has that Mark Nicholas ever played?

IIRC he was Hampshire captain (Shane Warne is their current captain). I think he played for England a couple of times; he was primarily a captain whose batting was distinctly average (so perhaps he would get in the current England team).

Right, he's in then. And Peter Roebuck, might shut him up for five minutes.

Mike Gatting's swanning around somewhere, we can get Warnie to bowl to him first-up.

Graham Gooch is here on a beach cricket junket for a beer company, may be hard to drag him away from that though.

Yep, could have a team.

But I'm only counting the games against the Australian side, not the minor sides that have also been beating them.

Steve, they were Australian teams, just ones selected from the under 15s.

Have you got a ladies team we can play?
Posted on: 10 January 2007 by Chillkram
Better make that an over forties ladies team.

Not that I'm one to beg for mercy, or anything, but c'mon Aussie dudes, the lads' hearts ain't in it any more (err, if ever they were...)

Enough's enough,
James

(Just wait for the World Rowing Championships, then we'll show ya).

I'm just politely keeping score, which is now 7-0. Smile

Like Monty Python I guess, they have a contractual obligation.

Looks like we'll have to scratch Aggers from the ghost team, he's gone home, most likely to prepare Trafalgar Square for the grand parade Smile

The horror. The horror...

I'm giving up cricket and I'm going to watch David play with the LA Galaxy instead now.

Blimey, we can't even win the ladies conkers event now!

Hmmmmm...trouble is I'm scared you might be right. Still we did manage to (just) beat the mighty warriors at the Weekend.

Thank heaven for the bonus points system. Still just about in it.

Bring on the Perps!

James

I think this warrants a new thread in the run up to 'The Match' now you have thrown down the gauntlet!

The master plan is progressing well: beat them in the Ashes, and maim them in the one day series.

"Pietersen, who again played a lone hand..."

That's a rather euphemistic way of saying what's already been said about him by the Aussies!
