Don't they say you're only as good as your last performance.
Posted on: 02 February 2007 by JWM
Unsettlingly, it may be that you are in fact only as good as your next performance...

True and what do you know - it's another victory: this winning is becoming a habit.

I thought the pre-match interviews with some sections of the Gabba crowd were surprising - a couple of Australians said that NZ were the second best team in the competition; I thought it was a bit unpatriotic that they put their own squad last because I happen to think Australia has quite a reasonable side. I think they'll give us a tough match in the final, but I'm quietly confident.

Get that open top bus ready Smile

I always knew we'd get the hang of this one day cricket sooner on later - I can't believe it: Blair out and Paul Collingwood for PM, wouldn't it be great to have somebody who has done something worthwhile in charge.

And now the bad news....it's the best of three!

Well, it's on again tomorrow, and it's clear what the Aussies need to do, they have to upgrade their 252.

552 might be too much of a stretch, and 282 wouldn't be good enough, so somewhere in between, and then downgrade the Poms to a 202 or thereabouts, that should do nicely. Smile

102 from Collingwood, 92 from Bell, 72 from Flintoff and 52 from Nixon should do the trick!

Could the unthinkable be about to happen?!!!

It just has! A 2-0 series win in the final for England!

Steve I'll let you do the honours!

No I don't want to its not fair!

It has - remarkable.

P D Collingwood - man of the series IMO.

And all this without Vaughan and Pietersen.

Good on ya Steve.

At last England can take something positive from this tour and can go in to the World Cup with some hope in a young team who have performed well in recent games.

Well done to the Aussies for a huge lesson in test cricket - they have clearly shown that they are the best in the world by some distance. And maybe the experience of a long, hard series has been character building for the England players and will teach them that it is one thing to beat the Aussies at home in familiar surroundings, but it is quite another to achieve any sort of result in their own back yard.

And next time you beat them, don't celebrate by getting pissed on telly!
