UPS for CD Players

Has anyone tried using a UPS in the mains supply to a CD player or even any other piece of equipment?

These are often used in industry for equipment not for the conventional supply loss and controlled shutdown but to reduce the impact of spike in mains supply.

Would it be worth a try?
