Hope this hasn't been flooged to death in another thread but...

I only use it to ensure I've got the speakers / interconnects the right way around.

Never use it otherwise!

During intial setup and occasionally just to check, I'll flick the pre-amp into Mono mode, then ensure that the sound is balanced between the speakers. That's the primary use.

The secondary use is to isolate the various sonic elements when listening to the Beatles. cool

I occasionally use it to compensate for a changing listening position.

Also, for many years, I got lower volume from the left speaker for some reason, so I sometimes compensated for that - but not always, since the balance changed with volume, and it was a PITA to keep the sound centered. BTW, the problem appeared to be in two successive tonearms.

I don't use it. I don't know why it is designed in as it adds extra circuitry to the signal path.

My right speaker is a fair bit closer to the corner then the left.

If I centre the balance, the bass booms from the right side; there just seems to be more "stuff" happening on that side.

I set the balance at 11 o'clock to compensate. I pretty sure it's not psychoacousitc.

Cheers,

With the exception of the 5 series!
