DVD5 SPDIF Output
Posted by: Mr Underhill on 01 January 2008
Can anyone tell me what the output sample rates are from the spdif connectors?
Had a look in the manual - couldn't find it specified.
Is everything taken down to 16bit 44.1KHz?
Will it output stereo 24bit 192KHz?
Thx,
Martin

Hi
- CD is output at 44.1kHz
- everything else is 48k.
- DVDA/DTS > 48k is downsampled to 48k (All dvd players must do this)
- DTS 96/24 is passed as a DTS stream with the 96/24 data intact (as long as the SPDIF output setting is set to multichannel rather than Stereo)

Thx Steve.
I am recording music at 96/24 and burning it to DVD.
Do I take it that there is no way to play this via any DVD?
Thx,
M

No 2.
- everything else at 48k
What sampling size? 16/20/24 bit?
Thx,

It'll play back at 96kHz via analog–I've done check mixes on DVD-A before, and this seems to work fine. 24/96 via SPDIF is probably pushing it a bit, especially with some digital interconnects.

Thanks David, I know I could use the internal DAC but I use an external one I prefer, hence my question.
SPDIF can handle 4824 from my reading.
