CDS puck if new

I’ve learned from the wise men of this Forum that the old CDS needs more puck and they should be used simultanously. I followed the advice and now I have much less tracing errors indeed.

A couple of years ago when I bought the CDS I got two pucks from the dealer and I was silly enough to use them since then. Just because I wanted to increase the number of my pucks, recently I bought two more from NA. Yesterday they arrived and they made an unbelievable difference. The old ones’ sound is dead and uninteressant. The new ones gives much, much better treble, with all the consequences of this. Gone the fatty upper bass, as if fresh air coming into the room. It’s true, they need some 2 days (or maybe more?) for running-in, first they sound a bit disambodied but they keep improving from hour to hour.

It seems to me adviseable to leave them for one night or two (or more?) on top of a CD in the CDS. From the moment the ring reaches the optimum the puck should not, of course, be left that way if not playing. I can only hope they retain their quality for years.

Now I got two pucks instead of two. Not four. The old ones are no match for the new ones.

"I can only hope they retain their quality for years."
I would guess that if the old ones lasted a couple of years then that
should be true for the new ones. I think you should buy some more just
in case. If they make that much difference....like having a top end turntable
and a worn cartridge...think of the puck like the stylus, slowly degrading
every time you play a CD... Buy more pucks , save them for the years to
come.

the worn cartridge similarity seems a reliable one.
