SNAPS2 with CD3.5
Posted by: Steve G on 09 August 2002
As my Naim amps aren't in use these days I suppose I should try the SNAPS2 powering my CD3.5. Has anyone tried this and does it make a worthwhile difference?

Yes. A SNAPS2 (dual-railed) is about the same as a Flat-Cap on a 3.5. It provides a very worthwhile improvement.

Cheers for that. The SNAPS2 is already dual railed so I'll probably give it a go tonight.

Why don't you consider selling it to an exceptionally friendly Dutch guy?
Cheers,

Sorry mate, but I still have plans for my unused Naim kit (32.5/SNAPS2/IXO/140/Credos) as it'll probably form the basis of the system in my new room when it's built.

The later SNAPS (probably including your one) have 2 4-pin inputs. The SNAPS2 modification consists of converting those 2 4-pin DIN's to a single 5-pin therefore becoming a dual rail power supply for the pre-amp.
It's a very simple mod and if you do a search for "dual railing a SNAPS" you should find instructions elsewhere on the forum.
