Need help diagnosing channel problem

Posted by: JYOW on 06 February 2004

I have a Nait 2 driving a pair of Celestion A-1 using the standard NACA5 speaker cable.

Lately I am having problem with the right channel faded away. What I find is if I switch the amp off and on (I leave it on at all time) the problem goes away.

1. Is this a symptom of the Nait needing recapping?

2. How much should it usually cost ballpark? (parts and labour)

Thanks for any help.

No, it's not a symptom of a general recap need.
It needs a service. It's probably a single capacitor going DC.
But sending it for a recap should correct the problem. There is no recap moratorium on this unit.

Thanks Emmanuel for your quick answer.

By recapping is it generally going to give me improved sonics? Right now the problem is rectifiable by cycling off and on. Should I hang on until it gets serious?

Do you have any idea sround how much it should cost?

E-mail NAIM from main web site with serial number and they will tell you if its been seen back at the factory ,how much and I guess from your point of view if there is any one near by that will do the work.
