555PS & HDX

Hello - What part of the HDX does the 555 power? If I use another DAC, ie digital out to the other DAC (Meitner), is it then a waste of the 555? Or, I suppose, is it just better to wait for the Naim DAC?

Power supply has no effect in dig out but don't be surprised if you don't prefer the inyernal with PS to an outboard. The supply makes a significant difference and can later be used for the DAC.

Agreed. The HDX with 555ps using its internal DAC was so good, even through a lowly 102/200, I cant imagine a source getting better than that.

I would say, get the 555ps first. Then demo some DACs to see if you can improve it even further, given standard reference to VFM.
