HDX versions

Posted by: Jonn on 21 June 2009

I've an opportunity to buy an 8 month old HDX second-hand.The ripping mechanisms isn't the most up-to-date version but apart from slightly longer ripping time will the sound be exactly the same as the latest version? Also, as I'm not buying from a dealer how would I get the latest software up-dates and would I be able to return direct to NAIM if anything went wrong?
Thanks for any advice.

Remember that the warranty is non-transferrable, so your OOP if anything happens to the unit and it needs to go back to Naim for servicing.

Software updates can still be obtained from a dealer even if you buy the unit from this individual.

Trade-off: ripping time decreased with newer units, but noise is louder due to the faster spinning drive, otherwise the units are the same.

One reason I've only bought used equipment in the past from a dealer as there will always be some form of warranty.

With cutting edge and very expensive pieces then I am sure that the warranty is crucial.

The point Gary makes is important, IMO.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't realised that warranties are non-transferrable. But are you saying that if I bought ex-dem or used from a Naim dealer then the remainder of the warranty would be transferrable?
