How to place CDX2/XPS2

Posted by: TomK on 23 January 2004

I had the CDX2 sitting on top of the XPS2 and it sounded fantastic then I saw that the instructions said that the CDX2 should not be placed directly on top of another item of Naim kit. Any suggestions? I’ve tried putting coins under the feet and it all still sounds wonderful. Am I suffering from post 50th birthday/too much bevvy paranoia?

Hehe, I just turned 50 and bought myself an 82 preamp and two Hicaps to go with it. Congratulations on the big 5 0 and getting a CDX2 and XPS2, quite an upgrade from what I read.

I've heard that keeping the power amps as far away from source boxes is best, that means putting your XPS2 down a few shelves and CDP and preamp on the top. The power amps have big toroidal coils that give off a lot of magnetic energy that could disturb the sensitive electronics in the sources.

Best thing is to keep the boxes with a transformer on another rack. If this is impossible try to keep the XPS2 at least 12" from the CDX2.

You need to site the CDX2/XPS2 at my house Smile

Thanks guys. A bit of re-jigging seems to be in order. It might actually be better for the Burndy, which is without a doubt the weirdest/most impressive cable I’ve ever come across.
Sadly, Rasher, it’s not possible. I’ll just say that Mr Naim does make exceedingly good CD players.
And thanks for the good wishes Wolf. Hope you feel as good about being 50 as I do!

Oh I do feel good about it! I just wish I had more money to spend. but then I have season tickets to the opera and new Disney Hall here in LA. Stunning music from all three.
