A Farewell to Freedom

Posted by: Bob McC on 11 April 2005

At the Hearts versus Celtic match at the weekend the announcer called for 2 minutes silence in memory of the Pope. This was roundly jeered by the Hearts fans so vociferously that the referee had to abandon the silence. Six Hearts fans have subsequently been charged by the police with 'sectarian hate crime'.
Their behaviour was certainly boorish and loutish but a criminal offence?
Seems Rowan Atkinson's fears about the law change was fully justified after all.
The law is an ass.

Fritz,

Why is every response you make to my posts steeped in the tenor of condescension?

Ordinarily, yes. But in this case it is alleged that a crime has been committed. Therefore, there is profit in discussing the limits of UK law.

Perhaps the British Channel Island of Jersey (Now they're paying VAT etc at last) would be a good stop off place for Asylum Seekers to be processed´. The Mega Underground 'Hospital' built by Nazi slaves in WWII could be really put to good use, and save Gordon loads. The French are close by to help (like last time), and think of all the new languages the people could teach and pass on to our colourful caring multi.culteral society ? Zimbabwian for instance !!! innit. Big Grin Smile Roll Eyes Eek

I have sent an e-mail hopefully putting them right by referring them to Mr Parry's views on the subject.
That should sort them out.

It was indeed an interesting article, though certain parties would no doubt decribe it as Scottish propaganda ? Talking of the freedom of information act in UK (3 months old now already)I hear one now has to read GovT Press Releases through it, which does rather smack nof the un democratic to put it mildly, innit ?

Fritz Von Parry for Properganda Ministestry boss, though I suppose if everybody posting on thisd forum were totally Law abiding, he'd be talking to himself big-style ? Big Grin

I don't know who this Jake fellow is, but if I had the foggiest idea what "sod off" meant, I'd instruct you do to so. Until then, I'll stick with what I know - go fuck yourself, Graham.
